Motorhome Honeymoons - An Emerging Tourism Trend For New Zealand
Touring New Zealand with a motorhome is reported to be popular with newlyweds by a New Zealand motor-home rental business 'South Island Travel'. Over half of demand for their Bolero luxury campervans comes from honeymoon couples.
The trend for newlyweds to spend their honeymoon travelling New Zealand by campervan is driven in part by the new 5***** star luxury models of motorhomes now in the New Zealand rental market. These well-equipped and extremely well designed motorhomes mean that camping, once a compromise too far for many, now is a viable option. These campervans satisfy the desires of those wishing to get away from it all and still wanting to live in comfort and luxury.
"South Island Travel", a New Zealand motorhome rental business, reports over half of all demand for their Bolero model of motorhomes comes from honeymoon couples, with most of them being European. On average they will spend two and a half weeks driving around the South Island, which is a tight schedule to see and experience what the South Island has to offer. "South Island Travel" says they get a very high referral rate from clients who have used their luxury campervans then going on to recommend them and the style of holiday to others.
New Zealand has a lot to offer honeymooning newlyweds, particularly the South Island. It is not so well known beyond New Zealand just how much variety the South Island has to offer. A large range of mountains stretch the length of the island from the golden sand beaches of Abel Tasman National Park at the northern end to the sounds and fiords of Fiordland National Park in the south. There are also many lakes, some vivid aqua from the glacial silt at their source, others clear and tranquil and reflecting the mountains beyond. The West Coast has glaciers right next to lush rainforests and wild deserted beaches with continuous tumbling surf coming from the Tasman Sea. The east coast has award winning vineyards and easy opportunities to see whales, dolphins and seals at Kaikoura. Adrenalin pumping activities on offer include white-water rafting, jet-boating and bungee jumping. For those not after adventures there are scenic boat rides in Milford Sound, scenic flights in the mountains and a multitude of short and easy walks. The South Island has plenty of forest left in its original state and this allows easy opportunities to view native New Zealand birdlife. In the mountains you can also be enchanted by the cheeky Kea, a New Zealand native parrot. The South Island is also a good place for skiing with many ski-fields, extensive heli-skiing routes and some long ski-able glaciers.
Those who prefer flexibility and spontaneity in their travel may find that using a motorhome is their best option. In the peak of the New Zealand tourism season (December to March) standard types of accommodation such as hotels, lodges and hostels tend to get fully booked well in advance forcing travellers to pre-book their accommodation and stick to a fixed itinerary. However those using a motorhome have much more freedom as they are able to utilize the much more plentiful camping grounds. It is not hard to find yourself a great camping spot right next to the beach, in beautiful forested areas or with splendid views of the mountains.
New Zealand is a great country to see using a motorhome. There's lots of unique natural beauty and the luxury high spec RV's now available from rental businesses are allowing holiday makers to enjoy their evenings up close with nature while all the same getting convenience and comfort. They bring tourists room to adjust their holiday schedule as they do not need to pre-book all their accommodation. These are just some of the reasons that honeymoon couples are opting to hire campervans for their tour of New Zealand.
